Question # 1. The Fourth AmendmentLinks to an external site. to the U.S. Constitution protects personal privacy and every citizen's right to be free from unreasonable government intrusion into their persons, homes, businesses, and property — whether through police stops of citizens on the street, arrests, or searches of homes and businesses.

Lawmakers and the courts have put in place legal safeguards to ensure that law enforcement officers (Federal, State, and municipal) interfere with individuals' Fourth Amendment rights only under limited circumstances, and through specific methods. However, certain situations like 9-11 may force an officer to violate such rules. Although there may be consequences to their action.  Based on your view, what is more important: our privacy or national security?

A “stop and frisk” transpires when a police officer stops an individual and briefly runs their hands on their outer clothing in order to detect concealed weapons. “Stop and frisk” procedures are perfectly acceptable as a result of the Supreme Court case Terry vs. Ohio. Also, “stop and frisk” is sometimes referred to as a “Terry stop.” For a stop and frisk to be considered legal, the officer must have a reasonable suspicion that a crime has been, is, or is about to be committed.

Based on the legal boundaries surrounding the Supreme Court pertaining to the “stop and frisk,” Do you believe that this concept is a disadvantage to police officers? Why or why not? Although there are limitations surrounding this topic, what are the pros and cons? Should the stop-and-frisk model be kept or diminished in today’s society?
