Intervention Framework
The overarching intervention plan for this treatment group shall include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as the primary intervention modality. Moreover, CBT is effective in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, particularly in the young adult patient category of 18–25 years (Toseland & Rivas, 2017). This framework fits for use since it actively involves participants in managing negative cognition besides encouraging more constructive emotions. CBT is based on changing cognition and behavior, and the group structure aids by encouraging peers to share their experiences and offer support because isolation and exclusion are significant issues in the lives of adults with LD.
The framework will also include the tenets of ‘Trauma Informed Care’ to allow the participant to feel safe, valued, and empowered. They assist in preventing re-stimulation in participants; this is crucial when conducting sessions (Baird & Alaggia, 2021).
Over the course of 12 weekly sessions, the following topics will be addressed:
1. Understanding Anxiety and Depression: The participants shall be given information on the manifest, the predisposing factors, and the impacts of these disorders to eradicate stigma and enhance disease awareness.
2. Cognitive Restructuring: It can be explained that sessions will focus on restructuring negative thought patterns and help the patient develop healthier constructive PMA.
3. Stress Management and Coping Skills: Some of the skills that will have to be taught include stress management strategies such as relaxation procedures and mindfulness How feelings occur as well as solving mental issues will also be a part of the lessons.
4. Interpersonal Relationships: The development of competencies to foster communication, conflict, and boundaries to enhance social relationships.
5. Relapse Prevention: Strategic planning for the future concerning forward movement and the management of possible slumps.
This structured format also guarantees the incorporation of empirically supported practices while focusing on the needs of the target population. This approach is based on education, skill development, and peer support with the goals of improving participants’ emotional state and providing them with realistic tools for recovery (Champine et al., 2018).
