Emerging Technology Paper Assignment

Purpose of Assignment:

The purpose of this assignment is to be able to summarize the key considerations around an emerging health information technology. The ability to synthesize the various implications of a new technology is critical to identify and addressing emerging challenges and opportunities for innovation.

Steps to Complete Assignment

1. Identify an emerging technology and write a paper that considers both the possible impacts to clinical care and patient outcomes as well as the ethnical, privacy, and regulatory implications. Include an analysis of the barriers to implementing such technology.

2. This paper should be no more than 15 pages and should include the following:

· Introduction – Summary of findings and key considerations.

· Background – Deeper analysis of the technology and any relevant history.

· Current situation – Put the technology in the context of regulatory and ethical considerations.

· Analysis – What is your opinion? How have the facts and background led you to this decision? This is where to show your logic.

· Summary and conclusions – Summary and any key takeaways.

· Appendices – This should include links to source material used.
