Evidence-based coaching requires thoughtful analysis and assessment of a client’s situation and goals. You must also be aware of common interventions, as well as have a proclivity to be curious about newer interventions or, perhaps, how to apply older intervention models. You should have in your toolbox a portfolio of different tools and methods. Not only should you be versed in interventions, you should also have a sound and thorough understanding of the theories underpinning the interventions. Finally, you must have a way to evaluate your interventions. How will you determine whether your client(s) achieved their goals or truly completed their program with you with a positive outcome? Without a sincere and thorough evaluation, how will you determine your effectiveness as a coach?

Upon successful completion of the course material, you will be able to:

· Analyze the engagement interview.

· Select and justify an intervention based on the scenario for the engagement interview.

Background Information

For this assignment, you will evaluate your skills in the interview video you created for Workshop Two. Use your peers’ feedback from the discussion in this workshop if you find it useful. In addition to critiquing your skills, you will also determine an intervention you might use, keeping in mind your specialization and that you aren’t engaging in clinical psychology but, rather, life coaching from a strengths or positive psychology perspective. Identifying an intervention will assist you in the interview video you will create for Workshop Five. You will need to do some library research for this assignment.

Instructions

1. Watch the interview video you created in Workshop Two.

2. Write a minimum three-page, APA-formatted paper addressing the following:

a. Which skills were you attempting to demonstrate?

b. How well do you think you demonstrated them?

c. Given the scenario, identify an intervention you would use with the person/situation in the scenario and provide justification for why you would use that intervention.

d. Describe the evidence for your selected intervention.

e. Describe the contraindications or lack of evidence for your selected intervention.

3. As part of the paper, you will need to identify sources that support your main points. Please provide two outside references, in addition to any references from your readings, in correct APA format for these sources in a reference page at the end of your paper.
