In this assignment you will draft your first version of the introduction section of your research proposal. It should consist of 4 parts and be no longer than 1 page in total. A good introduction states the main research problem and thesis argument. What precisely are you studying and why is it important? How original is it? Will it fill a gap in other studies? Never provide a lengthy justification for your topic before it has been explicitly stated. Utilize the example posted to craft your own introduction section.
Rubric: 100 Points
1. Provide background information and set the context: (20 Points) First paragraph, paint a broad overview of the topic and its history and importance in the first 3-4 sentences. Then conclude with 2-3 sentences of how the problem narrows in scope with relation to your topic.
2. Importance of Topic (20 Points): Second paragraph, describe why someone should care about the topic 3-4 sentences in total, what is the impact of finding answers to your problem.
3. Brief Summation of Past Research Outcomes (20 Points): IN 5-7 Sentences summarize 2-3 seminal works that have looked at some or all the variables you are investigating, what have they found. Lastly describe key differences in your proposed work.
4. Propose research questions, objectives or hypothesis (20 Points): In a short paragraph formally state what your proposal will investigate. This can take place in the form of proposing a research question (s) or research objective(s) or hypothesis.
5. References and Grammar (20 Points): On a second- or third-page list the 2-3 references in APA format (10 points for accuracy of citation) and lastly the introduction section will be assessed of grammatical accuracy (1 or fewer errors will garner 100% of the 10 points).
