How has the human resource function changed in the past two decades?

“Four environmental factors that affect human resource functions in healthcare organizations are declining supply of workers, increasing population need, declining reimbursements, and external pressure on HSOs. The declining supply of workers affects the human resources functions because there is an increased amount of pressure to recruit new staff members, as well as making sure that the newly hired employees are skillful enough for their position. The increasing population need affects the functions because with more patients there is a need for more workers since there is a larger workload on the organization. Declining reimbursements affect the organization since there is less money to work with when trying to recruit or resupply the organization. The fourth factor is the external pressure on Human Service Organizations, “HR must ensure high performance in HSOs for accountability and performance,” (Buchbinder). This is a very stressful job because it is determining the success of the organization. As a Human Resources employee, the job is to run daily administrative functions in order to make sure other employees are successful with their work. Since human resources is in charge of employment it is their job to decide if there needs to be a turnover.
