? Question: Does a bean plant grow faster outside, by a window, or with an artificial light bulb?
? Hypothesis: If you grow a bean plant in different types of sunlight including indoor, outdoor, and artificial light, then the outdoor plant will grow the fastest.
? Dependent Variable(s): the plant growth
? Independent Variable(s): the sunlight or artificial light bulb
? Materials:
? 6 bean plants
? Water
? Windowsill that catches sunlight
? 2 artificial light bulbs
? Outdoor area for plant
? Ruler and notebook
? Method:
1. I will purchase six bean plants due to the experiment’s timeline that have already begun to grow.
2. I will place the plants in the different locations of my house.
3. The first location will be outdoors with direct sunlight hitting the plant.
4. The second location will be next to a window that receives sunlight.
5. The third location will be set up in a room that does not receive any sunlight but placed with an artificial light bulb above it.
6. I will set up the light bulb directly on top of the plant.
7. I will use 2 plants per location to ensure my results are valuable.
8. I will water each plant daily with ½ an inch of water.
9. I will use a ruler to measure the growth of the plants each week.
10. I will also take photos of the plants each week and to help determine which will grow the fastest.
