Hello class, after reading the article provided above about the response when Hurricane Sandy arrived, it is evident there should be more emergency training. Many to most of the nurses in the study expressed concern in the fact that they were not confident in their roles or what to do in the emergency evacuation. Not only do medical professionals lead the way during an emergency situation, but they are also expected to be fearless in their area and know exactly what to do when a dangerous situation occurs and the patients and their families need someone to look to. Families and patients look to them to lead them in what to do. As a future nurse, it is important I understand what to do in an emergency situation so that I can run myself and the patients smoothly especially while under pressure. I know for a fact I would want to be prepared for an emergency situation so that I can accurately and effectively help to save lives and hope everything runs as smoothly as possible.
