In the early 90’s, a documentary was made about growing up in America. Please watch the first installment in the video series (above) then complete this discussion. For this discussion, you will pick TWO of the FEMALE children in the documentary to talk about in your post. You will tell us about these children, inform us of their unique personality, and circumstances. You will identify at least 3 socio-cultural influences that are present in the child’s life and how you think it influences the child. This includes issues related to being a female child in particular, family life, race/ethnicity, social class, where they live, etc. You can compare and contrast the male children in the video. Next, then based on the socio-cultural influences you discuss in your post, make a several predictions about the child for the future. Watch the next video (above) in the Growing Up in America documentary posted in the module. Now, the 7 year old children from the last video are 14 years old. You need to refer to your post from the older discussion board where you made predictions about two female children and the socio-cultural factors that would affect their development. In this discussion board, remind us of your predictions and determine if you are correct in your predictions but you only have to talk about one of the two that you picked (this is because not all of the original children appear in the second video). Make sure to describe if the child is going through a period of “storm and stress” regardless of what you predicted. In addition, discuss issues which relate to being a female child that is going through puberty/adolescence. It is fine to compare and contrast to the male children in the videos. Please provide your evidence for your choice. If the child you pick is not depicted, it is fine to discuss another child in the post.
