20 Mar Analytic Research Paper

The first paper has to focus on a historic person between the beginning of civilization to 1500.  Remember this is NOT a biography.  The student must analyze an aspect of a historic person or event of their choice.  It could be the importance of their actions or accomplishments to history in general or to a specific time, region, profession, event, field or institution.  The focus can also be on analyzing the motives of certain actions taken or certain beliefs held by an individual.  The student can ask a Why or How question about their historic person to get them started.  Here are a few examples of good analytic arguments.  All students must turn in a COPY through the CANVAS website BY THE DUE DATE.

Example One:  Focusing on why Octavian was the best or worst Roman Emperor.

Example Two:  Focusing on how Genghis Khan built the Mongolian Empire.

Example Three: Focusing on how Joan of Arc affected the Kingdom of France.

Example Four: Focusing on why Christoper Columbus should be celebrated as a hero or condemned as a villian.

Any argument that is chosen needs to have 3 major points of argument.

Requirements:

• All topics must be related to world history between the beginning of civilization to 1500. 
• Must be a minimum of 2 pages; no more than 3 pages
• 12 font Times New Roman
• Double Spaced
• 1 Inch Margins
• Cover Page with the following information in center of page: Name, Class and Section Number, Due Date and Title (Does not count as one of the 2-3 pages)
• Pages must be numbered
• Work Cited page in MLA format (Does not count as one of the 2-3 pages)
• Imbedded Citations in MLA format
• Must use at least 3 sources (Can NOT use Textbook or Wikipedia)

THINGS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR PAPER RESULT IN A ZERO:

• No work cited or imbedded citations
• Plagiarism
• Invalid Excuse for late submission
