20 Mar Evaluation Topic

For the evaluation essay, you will need to choose a specificproduct as the subject of your evaluation. We do these types of evaluations allthe time in real life when we decide which shampoo to buy, or what to have forlunch, or what we should give a friend as a gift. This essay will be anextension of those choices.

For your initial post, decide on your topic, and then make alist of criteria for evaluation: what are the important things to consider whenevaluating your product?

I am going to review the Impossible Whopper at Burger King(a plant-based burger manufactured by a company called Impossible Foods). Ivelisted six criteria below along with some questions I could use to think abouthow the Impossible Whopper at BK meets (or doesnt meet) my expectations aboutthese areas:

The companies (both Impossible Foods and Burger King): Howlong has Impossible Foods been around, and what is there company mission andreputation? How long has Burger King been around, and what is there companymission and reputation? How does a partnership between these two very differentcompanies mean, and how are they framing it for the public? How does thisproduct compare to products that other food/fast food companies are trying tosell right now?

Social good: Does choosing this product over other fast fooditems contribute to some kind of better world, and if so how?

Price: How much does it cost, and does that seem reasonablecompared to other similar products? If its more/less, what explains thedifference in price?

Availability: How easy is it to get one of these? Caneveryone get them? Who is left out of the audience/market for the product? Whohas access to it? How does that compare to the availability of other fast fooditems?

Nutrition: How does the nutritional value compare to othersandwiches? To a regular burger? To some other fast food choice (like a salad,for example)?

Taste/ presentation: How good is it compared to othercompeting products? How does it look? How does it taste?

Notice that for each criteria, we want to think about howthe chosen product stacks up to other alternatives and what the products valueis relative to other choices.
