Creating and Editing Colors for a Festival Sign and Artwork

In this Skill Builder exercise, you will learn how to create, edit, and paint with colors using a variety of methods.
NOTE: You will not complete the entire lesson — only the part up until “Working with Live Paint”
STEP 1: Download and Open the Template File
1.1 Download the WGD201_Wk4Skillbuilder.zip (Links to an external site.) file
1.2 Extract the files from the zip file and save to a new folder on your computer. For assistance in zipping and unzipping files, review the How to Compress Files and Save as .Zip document.
1.3 Open Illustrator.
1.4 Once Illustrator is open, look for File in the upper left hand side.
1.5 Left click on File; then click Open.
1.6 Find the L8_start1.ai file and click Open.
1.7 Save your file as Lastname_week4skillbuilder.ai (“lastname” is your own last name). This will be the file that you will work with, so that the original L8_start1.ai is preserved.
STEP 2: Complete the First Part of the Lesson, then Save and Export to JPEG
2.1 Follow the instructions in your textbook, Lesson 8 – Using Color to Enhance Signage. Be sure to save your work frequently!
2.2 VERY IMPORTANT! You will not be doing the entire lesson! Stop when you reach the “Working with Live Paint” section
2.2 When you are finished, save your artwork (your .ai file).
2.4 Save a copy of your Illustrator file as a JPEG file by going to File > Export > Save As and type Lastname_week4skillbuilder.jpg and select JPEG. In the Format section, be sure to select JPG.
2.5 Check mark Use Artboards and select All.
2.6 Click Export.
STEP 3: Submit
4.1 Compress the Ai and JPEG files into a single .zip file. For assistance in zipping and unzipping files, review the How to Compress Files and Save as .Zip document (Links to an external site.).
4.2 Submit the .zip file.
