This assignment invites students to elaborate and present a short SOCIOLOGICAL research proposal, that develops the first steps of a sociological research. Students can use some concepts discussed during class and highlighted in the book. Students must create an original research project around a specific SOCIOLOGICAL subject and ask a SOCIOLOGICAL “research question”. The scope is to autonomously get rid of a taken-for-granted knowledge, and release a critical thinking. Particularly, you will develop three points:
The Subject of the Research: Select a Topic
The Frame: Defining the Problem
Formulate a Research Question. What would you investigate if you were a sociologist?
The topic can be related, but not limited to: Environment, Ethnic Relation/Race, Gender, Immigration, Media/Communication (Cultural Studies and STS), Social Inequality, Religion, and Social Movements (related to the previous topics).
