What topic have you decided to pursue for your problem/solution presentation project?

I have decided to research using a biometrics/fingerprint-based voting identification system.

Why did you choose this topic? Why does this topic interest you?

I chose this topic because of the increasing need for secure and efficient voting mechanisms to enhance elections' integrity and reduce fraud. This topic interests me because it can potentially improve the electoral process using technology.

What is the connection between this topic and your field of study?

The topic is directly connected to the field of Electronic Systems Engineering Technology (ESET), which involves applying engineering principles to solve problems using electronic technology. Implementing a biometric voting system requires understanding electronic systems, data security, and software integration, all of which are core aspects of ESET.

What do you see as an issue or problem regarding this topic?

A significant issue with implementing a fingerprint-based voting system is the potential for privacy concerns and the technical challenges associated with ensuring the system is accessible, reliable, and secure against various types of fraud and technical failures.

Considering that your audience will be a general audience (consisting of people in and out of your field), what are some modifications you will need to make (providing adequate background information, eliminating jargon from your writing, etc.) so that all audience members will be able to understand the problem you will discuss thoroughly and the solution or solutions you will offer?

 I will need to provide adequate background information on biometric technologies, specifically fingerprint recognition, and explain their relevance to voting systems. I will also use visual aids to illustrate how technology works and the benefits it offers to the electoral process.
