When conducting research, I actually found mostly similarities between the two leaders. They both displayed autocratic leadership styles and were considered to be transformational leaders by people in the industry. Despite their similarities, I believe that Bill Gates overall had the most salient strategic plans. I do believe Bezos is extremely intelligent because of his capability to foresee the power of the internet and how technology would expand and transform society over the years. However, Bill Gates created products that have lasted through the years. Between the Microsoft Office products and Windows operating system, he transformed technology completely. His products are used in schools, businesses, and homes across the entire world and have been used for decades. Just for some perspective – just from Windows alone in 2022, the business generated $198 billion in revenue, while Amazon earned less at $149 billion. That doesn’t even include what he made from Microsoft or his partnered programs. Bill Gates was absolutely revolutionary. In addition, I think what makes him so brilliant is that in the early years of Microsoft, he had a leadership style focused on ensuring the company grew at the pace that he had envisioned.
