Since the advent of social media, many businesses and organizations, whether corporate America or the local barbershop on the corner, have participated in a form of social media to share information with their customers and stakeholders. As you can see from your readings and personal/professional experience, healthcare is an industry that is particularly concerned about privacy. Thus, while social media can allow for the sharing of important information and transparency, we must carefully safeguard the information while doing so. In fact, Pfeiffer University not long ago co-sponsored an ACHE event at which four panelists shared their expertise on the topic.
Please share how your place of employment is using social media as a business. What policies does the organization have in place for appropriate use by employees? How does the organization manage the issues of inappropriate use? Has the process changed or intensified since the advent of the pandemic and the increased use of technology, ie. televisits?
