1.            What did you do?Restate the questions from Part 1.  Did your questions change at all during the course of your project?  Why?  Summarize what you did to investigate your project.  What data did you end up using and why? (15 points)

 

2.            How did you do it?  List step-by-step directions of how you prepared and analyzed your data.  Explain why you chose to do what you did. (10 points)

 

3.            What did you learn?  What does your map show?Interpret and explain to your professor/classmates the results of your work and map.  Was this what you predicted in Part 1?  If not, then how is it different?  Are there aspects of your project that need more investigation in the future?  What is the most important thing that you learned from this project? (15 points)

 

4.            Problems?  Would you do anything different?Did you run into any problems during your project?  Explain.  How did you work around or solve them?  Is there anything you would do different if you had to do the whole thing over again? (10 points)

 

5.            Map(s) Requirements.  Attach map(s) as separate JPG file to your Assignments Folder and Week 8 discussion area.  Do not paste it into this word document.(50 points)

 

Requirements:

 

a.            Map(s) clear enough to stand on its own without the report for explanation.

 

b.            JPG is high enough resolution that text is clearly visible (if it is still blurry when you zoom in, then it is incorrect)

 

c.             Title(s) is comprehensible, descriptive, and appropriate

 

d.            All text is properly formatted (same font and size throughout for each category): title, legend text, geographic labels, etc.

 

e.            Includes Data Source

 

f.             Includes Geographic Coordinate System (coordinate system, projection, and datum)

 

g.            Color and classification schemes bring “out” data (data is the “star” of your map)

 

h.            Perfect alignment of all features: data frames, overview frame, neatline, text, etc.

 

i.              Appropriate use of space (less “white” space)

 

j.             Equal spacing between data frames, legend boxes,neatlines, etc.

 

k.            Suitable and professional map layout (check out the templates for ideas)

 

l.              Scale bar and north arrow placed and formatted correctly (with appropriate units on scale bar)

 

m.           Legend displays appropriate and relevant text and symbols (does not say “Legend” and “Countries_2017.shp”)

 

n.            Legend numbers are rounded and have a percentage sign when appropriate, and excluded data displays as “No Data”

 

o.            Neatline around everything

 

p.            Name and date in bottom right corner, outside of neatline

 

q.            Map author understands data displayed

 

r.             Optional: Includes descriptive text or a photo/image when needed to better explain the map topic to the map reader
