Most of us are aware that funerals are a natural event in different forms and cultural influences for all Americans, regardless of age, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.  It is important to recognize the impact of funerals on most individuals and significance specific to managing grief and loss. This discussion will examine the role of the funeral as a community support system for the bereaved person.

 

Discuss the psychological, sociological, economic and theological philosophical aspects of the funeral process. How do each of these aspects facilitate the resolution of grief?

Often this subject is considered taboo in most families and becomes a challenge for families as they are faced with decisions regarding care of loved ones at end of life. As we come to the end of your course, it is important to discuss the impact of grief and loss on those who have experienced loss in their life. Grief is a normal part of experiencing death and is experienced in many forms. It is critical to understand the symptoms and available support to help someone in this process.
