Suicide remains a taboo in society, however is a leading cause of death for a significant portion of society. It causes great pain, loss and havoc for loved ones who survive the traumatic aftermath.

Discuss why the suicide rate tends to be high among the elderly.

Discuss community support systems for those who have lost someone by suicide.

Describe signs of suicide.

What steps should be taken if you observe some of these signs in a friend?

Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your peers.  Use a minimum of one scholarly source found at the University of Arizona Global Campus Library or Google Scholar, to critically examine the procedure that you have selected and its results.  Offer a substantial response to at least two other posts written by members of the class.  Be sure that you cite scientific evidence to support your views. A minimum of 250 -300 words should be used for each response to other posts.  Your response must be formatted according to APA style as outlined by the Writing Center.  Be certain to continue monitoring the discussion board until 5 p.m. (Pacific Time) on Day 7 of the week.

Discuss your understanding how suicide impact’s survivors and the continued incidence of suicide in the U.S. Conclude how these factors can facilitate the ongoing acts of suicide among older males, adolescents and college-age students’, as provided in your classmates’ initial posts. For each response, provide an example from your classmate post, and how it shaped their response regarding suicide.  Support your response with at least one reference from the text or this week’s required articles. You must also comment specifically on one aspect of your classmate’s post with which you can relate or understand their summary of this week’s question, pay particular attention to your own thoughts and experiences. Be sure to explain in detail your own thoughts on suicide and its prevalence. Provide a brief explanation as to why you agree and support your review with research drawn from the required readings this week. What personal and/or professional insights might you gain from your classmates’ posts that could alter your views? In addition to responding to at least two other students’ posts, it is recommended that you reply to at least one classmate who responded to your original post by either respectfully support your conclusions or listing how you might implement the alternatives your classmate suggested.

Unfortunately most individuals do not plan for end of life care. Often this subject is considered taboo in most families and becomes a challenge for families as they are faced with decisions regarding care of loved ones at end of life. Discuss in 250-300 words the importance of preparing the necessary documents related to current issues specific to death and dying.  Consider the following documents and their significance not only to your death but to family: Life Insurance, Death Certificate, Advance Directives, Living Will, Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, Will (testate versus intestate), Trusts, and Pour-over will.
