The focus is how to keep communications and the flow of health information working across all systems in the real world and/or at your place of employment.

A literature review is a piece of academic writing demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the academic literature on a specific topic placed in context. A literature review also includes a critical evaluation of the material; this is why it is called a literature review rather than a literature report.

In Part B, complete a literature review and include the following critical elements:

• Write an introduction based on a literature review of disaster management related to informatics and communications including the role of the informatics leader including traits and foundations for ethical-legal self-awareness.

• Explain literature supported steps to optimize communications before, during, and after a disaster event including the elements of the informatics disaster plan that provide data safety, storage, recovery, and safety options to prevent data loss and adhere to the requirements of electronic and personal health record laws.

• Using what you created in the Unit 1 Discussion Board, craft one combined communication and information technology change model that will become the theoretical framework for the proposal including security policies, procedures, and recovery plans for data and service delivery during a disaster.

This is the unit 1 disaster recovery steps that was discussed :

• Compiling IT system inventory: Begin by creating a list of application systems (EHR, PACS, etc.) so that we have a complete list of operations. A complete understanding of the systems used in the organization is needed.

• Data backup plan: Having a data backup plan is another key consideration of an effective disaster recovery solution. A data backup plan dictates which medical data to back up, how frequently the data should be backed up, as well as how long the data can be stored. Ideally, mission-critical data should be backed up the most frequently as its loss has the most negative impact on a healthcare organization.

• HIPAA compliance: As such, the data backup solution used as part of a disaster recovery plan should offer adequate protection and ideally, encryption, of patient medical data to remain HIPAA compliant.

• Create a Contingency Plan: HIPAA requires contingency planning in case a natural disaster or cyber-attack occurs. Check the HIPAA regulations to ensure your contingency plan is compliant (HHS, 2022).

• Define the Disaster Recovery Plan: As you develop the disaster recovery plan, it is essential that the plan is clearly recorded, unambiguous, and accessible. Make sure key components of the processes are clearly defined and universally understood by key players within and outside of the IT department.

• Finally, the step will be to test the plan regularly.. Test it regularly against the organization’s goals and against new threats. Test against natural disasters, phishing attacks, ransomware and other cyber attacks.
