Arguably, most (if not all) moral issues are explainable in terms of a conflict between some combination of consequences and duties. For the discussion, please consider how utilitarianism and Kantian ethics characterize two opposing perspectives on a contemporary moral issue: How does utilitarianism inform one perspective? How does Kantian ethics inform an opposing perspective?

Appropriate contemporary moral issues include, but are not limited to, the legal status of abortion, the legal status of guns, the teaching of sexuality and gender studies in schools, and government censorship of social media. The point is to describe how moral conflict can be described in terms of utilitarian and Kantian ethics. Your opinion on the issue itself is irrelevant to completing the assignment successfully.
