Field Interview, Analysis, and Report
The purpose of this assignment is to gain information about how Kinesiology is relevant to your everyday lives. Your questions for the interview should relate to Kinesiology so you can learn how it is used in the selected professional field.
Instructions:
Students will interview a professional who works with or uses the principles of Kinesiology. Formulate questions following guidelines below, and then interview your professional. Please contact Ms. Evleth if you have any questions.
Suggestions for professionals to interview:
- Physical Therapists
- Sports Medicine Physicians
- Professional Trainers
- Professional Body Builders
- Professional Athletes
- Certified Yoga or Pilates Instructors
- Other, if approved by Ms. Evleth
Final Research Report: (Total:100pts)
The final report will include a one page (minimum) summary and the interview questions and responses.
- The summary will relate what you learned from your interview that enhanced your knowledge and enabled you to have an increased appreciation for Kinesiology.
- Prepare a minimum of 8 (eight) questions for the interview ahead of time. Request assistance from Ms Evleth if you need clarification. Attach the interview questions and responses after the summary.
Interview Question Guidelines:
The interview questions must address all four of the following topics (see below). Personal questions, such as "why did you chose this occupation?" or "do you like what you do and why?" may be asked, but these will count as "extra" questions. However, you may ask "what training did you have or was required for this profession?" as one of the required 8. Make sure the questions ask for substantive answers. Avoid "yes/no" questions. If you do not get a thorough response, ask the interviewee to elaborate. The responses do not need to be recorded verbatim (do not include informal discussion language, such as, "Well, let’s see…."). - Anatomical and physiological fundamentals of human motion (the musculoskeletal & neuromuscular systems)
- Biomechanics (forces) relative to movement
- Principles and applications of motor skills
- Injuries and therapeutic treatments
