Hello, I have attached 7 pages of a lecture in which my work must be cited from. It is 4 questions and each question should be about 1 paragraph each. Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂  This is for a discussion post – no cover form needed. 

This week, we are learning about helping groups shift their focus to the “here and now”.  Imagine that you have a group member (Trevor) that is voluntarily participating in an anger management group because he reports having a hard time getting along with others at work and in his personal relationships.  You have noticed that Trevor consistently experiences conflict with other members of the group and ends up in tense exchanges. Thus far, the group has ignored his behavior, changed the subject, made a joke, and generally avoided talking about the tension and conflict that Trevor is creating in the group.  In the group today, Trevor told another member (Kelly) that the way she is dealing with her difficult boss is “not the way I would do it.  I would tell that guy off and let him know I’m not gonna take it.  You must not have learned to stand up for yourself.”  Kelly was visibly irritated, rolled her eyes, and stopped talking.  Another member made a joke about bosses all being the same and just having to deal with it.   

1) Working in the here and now, what could you, as the leader, say to the group to help them reflect on this dynamic with Trevor?

2) How can this help Trevor?

3) How can this help the group, as a whole?

4) Reflecting on this conversation, how would you feel about having to handle this conflict?  Acknowledging any discomfort can help us gain insight and better prepare for these situations.
