06 Jan Garner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences

According to Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, “there are eight independent intelligences: linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and naturalistic.” Brief descriptions of each of these intelligences can be found below.

For this forum post, you will analyze the results of a short assessment taken by a friend or family member that will provide with a score for each of Gardner’s eight intelligences. Higher scores indicate a higher presence of a certain type of intelligence, while lower scores indicate less observation of a type of intelligence. 

Report and interpret the given results.  Respond to the following questions as a part of this short paper. 

 In which two/three of Gardner’s intelligences did the person score the highest? The lowest?

 What do high scores in these areas indicate or represent? What about the low scores?

 Do you agree with the results of this assessment? That is: Do the results seem true based on your own personal prior experience? 

Remember: “The linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligences seem to fit with other definitions of intelligence in terms of mental abilities, but the other six are controversial; many psychologists see these as talents or skills instead of types of intelligence. In addition, many of these intelligences are difficult to quantify (such as intrapersonal intelligence) and present measurement problems.”
