In education, examples of the measurements that a college might use are total enrollment, enrollment by program, graduation rates, job placement rates, and civic engagement (volunteerism). Personally, I write weekly goals for myself that include this list of things to do and also include activities for personal development such as reading, writing, and exercise. These weekly goal sheets help me to track my progress in all the areas of my life. Today I went to the pool and the young lifeguard asked me “do you have a goal today?”. I did not ?. Yet, once I thought about it, I started to count my laps and think about an end goal, wondering how far can I go.
I invite you to consider measurements that you would consider in evaluating and reflecting on your own personal performance and experience at home, work, or school. Remember, it’s okay to apply a broad application of the concepts.
