Directions 

1. In the Header, type your name, PSY 110 and Class Days and Section Time.  For example,

Taylor Smith PSY 110 MW 9:30 

2. Prepare the document. Use one-inch margins for all four sides of the document. All pages must be typed using Calibri with a font size of 11. Each page should be double-spaced on only one side of the paper and justified (aligned) on the left margin.  Remember to begin a new paragraph with an indent.  The body of the assignment should be at least a minimum of one typed page and typically no more than two typed, double-spaced pages.  The last page will have a sample to show what your paper should look like.

3. Assignment: Pretend you have been asked to write an article for the school newsletter on the potential consequences of social distancing to limit exposure to infectious disease.  As you write your paper remember that your readers are the general public and may not have taken a psychology class; therefore, they will have no background knowledge of these topics.  

• Read the following Time magazine article https://time.com/5817453/coronavirus-human-touch/.  You will use information from your textbook and at least one outside source to complete the assignment.  

4. Your paper will be 1-2 pages  and have 2 parts:

1. Human Touch and Physical/Mental Health 

2. Health Psychology and Coping with Stress

Your discussion should include insights as to how the topic relates to psychology using proper terminology. 

5. The textbook “Essentials of Understanding Psychology, 13th ed Author Fieldman, Robert S” should be the primary source of information.  You must include 1-2 peer-reviewed sources (your text is not peer-reviewed).  Use the online WKCTC ( Library | WKCTC (kctcs.edu) library and check the peer-reviewed box to ensure your sources are peer-reviewed. All your sources, including the textbook, must be cited in the reference list and in the paper use APA writing style.  (Limit of 3 sources.)
