Please submit a journal post with your reflections on how the semester has gone since the last reflective journal post.  Below are the teaching objectives for Ms. Barrett and the course competencies for yourself as stated in the syllabus.  The course competencies for topics covered since the last post are listed.  Your grade on this assignment will be determined by its completeness of addressing all components, not based upon your evaluation of the course.  The purpose of this assignment is for you to reflect on the course and provide feedback on how the objectives of the course are being accomplished.  Please support your evaluation with specifically the things you like or dislike.  Your reflection post should be about 1 page. TEACHING OBJECTIVES

1.     To provide you with an overview of the major areas in the field of psychology.

2.     To explain the scientific method & research designs as pertains to the field of psychology.

3.     To explain how to conduct successful internet searches and critically evaluate web-based resources.

4.     To help you learn how to critically evaluate and think about the content of the course and related resources.

5.     To provide you the opportunity to learn to identify, apply &/or appreciate how the course material relates to real world issues, problems, & personal experiences.

6.     To help you develop successful study and time management skills and to provide you the opportunity to develop, reflect on and revise a personal success plan for the course.

COMPETENCIES

Upon completion of this course, the student can:

6.   Demonstrate an understanding of how organisms learn through classical conditioning,      operant conditioning, and social learning (imitation/observational learning).

7.   Identify the basic theories that explain motivation and emotions in human behavior.

8.   Demonstrate an understanding of the major personality theories including how they conceptualize the development of human personality.

9.   Identify the classes of mental disorders and describe their characteristic traits.

10. Describe the reciprocal effects of the social environment and behavior.
