The following video produced by Columbia University is a discussion of the end of Coverture in the US. In it Linda Kerber and her guest discuss the the baby steps taken to end the practice through various Supreme Court cases and especially the 14th Amendment, an amendment passed during Reconstruction after the American Civil War.
