Case Analysis is a team assignment: For Case Assignment, the class is divided into several teams and each team are to be assigned a case by the instructor. The cases for this assignment are chapter Closing Cases in the textbook. Each team are to complete and submit a Case report in PPT: there is no paper writing requirement. The cases, due, and members for each team are shown in the Course and Case Schedule.

Each team needs to submit not in a paper but in PPT slides: by using the Assignments, each team are to submit a case report. The late submission within 48 hours will have 10% off from the earned grade and after 48 hours any paper wont be accepted.
Each assignment is to be completed according to the instructions given by the instructor for the assignments. Assignments should be formatted as follows in order to maximize the number of earned points:

Case Report & Presentation and Discussions (160 Points)
-Table of Contents-
1st slide: Give your member students information, the date, and the title of the case with chapter. Then, provide a Table of Contents. The average length of a case report would be 35 slides.
Introduction
Synopsis and Problem Definition of the case (10 points): In your paper, synopsize the Case in the textbook pointing out the major issues. The major story of the case needs to be briefly summarized and explained.

2. Backgrounds (for a Case Analysis)
1) Company (or Institution) Profile (15 points): In order to analyze the situation of the case, you need to know about the company (or institution if there is no company) of the case since you actually are assumed to be in charge of the case solution for the company (or the instituion). So first of all, you should get information about the case company and make a Company Profile. Here, you are going to provide information such as company name, brands, history, products, size, organization, geographical organization, financial performance, major competitors, current issues and so on.

2) Theoretical Backgrounds (25 points): Now, you are about to analyze the case. You would be better if you have theoretical viewpoints for the case analysis. The case needs to be viewed and analyzed not based on an intuition or common sense, but on a logical framework, so to speak, a theoretical background. Students need to find relevant theories to the case, describe them in detail, and analyze the relevance of the theories to the case theoretically. At least the case chapter needs to be summarized theoretically.
In the most cases, the relevant theories could be found in the chapter of the Case. You need to summarize the outlines of the chapter from a theoretical perspective and point out the important theoretical contents in association with the case problems. Students can also find many useful theoretical materials beside the text: other textbooks, academic journals, business magazines, etc.

3) Country Profile (35 points): Prepare a Country Profile on the country in the case. You need to know the local business environments to solve the case. A foreign country for this profile is given by the instructor in the Course and Case Schedule. If you want to choose another country, however, you can do it, but need to find a foreign country in the Case and select a country of the case if there are more than two foreign countries in the case. Then, describe the international business environments of the country in detail. It must be a foreign country, not the USA since we are to learn about foreign countries.
A guide to a country profile is provided later in the syllabus separately. Students are strongly recommended to pay attention to the IB risks of the country as well as the opportunities and attractiveness for the IB. Each of the IB risks including the political, economic (currency), commercial, and cultural risks need to be addressed and assessed with supporting data and analyses.

To show the data is not enough for analyzing the country: students need to articulate what kinds of status each business environment is by analyzing the data and withdrawing some meaningful implications from the analyses. In the end, you should be able to tell the class what kind of a country it is from a perspective of an IB manager: in addition, you should also be able to summarize what are the main points to be considered for analyses of the case questions.

Analysis

Question Analysis and Solutions (25 points): this is to analyze the problems and give your Answers to each of the questions from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Finally, it is time to solve the problems. At first, analyze the problems theoretically with the theoretical background considering the company situation and the country profile. The purpose of your case analysis is to solve the case problems. Practically, give your Answers to each of the questions. The Questions are the questions in the end of each case in the text. You need to show the basis of your answer and procedure of your analysis.

Conclusion and Recommendations & References (10 points): Each case needs solutions for the issues/problems. As a case reader, you are to recommend action plans of the solutions for the problems as you analyzed.
In the end, provide a list of references you used for the analysis.

The result from the Originality Check needs to be lower than 10%, otherwise penalties of 10% of grade deduction for each 10% increase in the result will be imposed.

PPT Presentation and Case Discussions (40 points)
Students need to prepare for PPT slides for presentation and submit the electronic file to the instructor through the Assignments prior to the presentation due date. Then, the PPT slides will be posted in the Discussion threads to be discussed by the class. The case presentation group members are to respond to the questions and comments from the class in the groups Case Discussions actively and faithfully.

Grading criteria for presentation consist of preparation (quality and quantity of power point slides), in-depth of contents, creativity, and so on.

The presentation needs to show all of the case analysis so that the class clearly understand the problems of the case, a company profile, relevant theories, and a country profile of a foreign country related to the case, and answers to the case questions. The content needs to be reasonably sufficient enough for students to fully and completely understand the case analysis. Students are strongly recommended to use the bottom space of each slide for extended descriptions and more information on the content.

The slides will be better off by professionally designing in terms of font size, colors, layouts, graphics, effects, multimedia effects and so on, for an effective delivery.
