DISCUSSION BOARD (GOING GREEN) REPLY TO 2ND STUDENTS POST
Good evening Professor and classmates,
Hope everyone is doing great.
The agency where I intern, the Home Care Options do not practice Green at all. I have been there for about three (3) months now and I have called their attention to the number of unnecessary printing and photocopying they make. Sometimes, you see copies of same documents printed out and they end up using them as draft papers. I will bring it up with them again about how going green creates a healthy environment for employees, reduces unnecessary waste and recognizes the role that businesses play in leading the way for social change. By cutting down on waste, this can cut down on paper usage, and will lower the budget spent on printing materials like ink cartridges and papers. (Lorette, 2017),
There are many advantages if the agency goes green. As per our required resources of this week, How Going Green Can Make a Company More Successful, by recycling office paper waste there can be reduction in monthly waste disposal fees and also maintaining environmentally friendly image that consumers are currently seeking. This is easy to start by installing easy, consistent locations throughout the office for employees to recycle packaging, paper, and other materials. (Industries, 2016).
For Home Care Options to change to green, it is going to be a big change for them. They rely mostly on folders instead of storing information on the computer. They tend to print out even email messages and do not recycle all these wasted papers.
I know they do have printers that can print on double side and also have motion lights that turns off by itself if there are no movement in their offices.
Why is this such a hot topic?
Going green is a way of life and it is creating a healthier and more productive place to work. It is a lighter ecological footprint, that increases staff morale and good news for companys bottom line. (Al-Masri, 2015)
