In order to communicate an idea it is important to understand as thoroughly as possible the idea you wish to communicate. This would seem to go without saying, but what lies beneath the surface of this statement is the notion that no thing or idea has any real meaning out of context. That is to say, we derive meaning not only from an idea itself, but also from the milieu within which we confront that idea.

The theme for this years thesis research is: Kansas (not the band)

The area of investigation is:

The focus of your research within your given category should be on a topic, person, or movement of current significance, including the context and history of how your subject came to be. Your research should include at least one interview with a person knowledgeable about your subject.
